A new look at a space, like the film title indicates, which belongs to the third chronological moment when the author had returned to her native island and it was when she decided to make a series of films called Aspects Of Kirkwall in a new look at her childhood place that time had altered. A dual journey is captured in this series: on one hand, the physical return to the island and on the other hand, the journey of progress and the modern world to bury the country in the city. We can say that this final stage is the Kirkwall that is Edinburgh-ized lo which interests Tait, as a reflection in the maps of her own internal life. The Look of the Place is Part 5 in this series filmed between 1969 and 1976 in the capital of the Orkney Islands. There are sledges in the snow, washing that hangs below the flight of the seagulls, empty streets that echo the crows and the author’s voice who occasionally adds a phrase to correct the film’s flight which rises up like a kite flying in the air. Once more, people are whistling and old fishermen who have been urbanised show us that despite all the progress, the country’s former self still lies beneath it all.
