NICOLAS PHILIBERT COMES BACK TO PAMPLONA

Nicolas Philibert came to Punto de Vista for the first time in 2008, introducing his then latest film, Retour en Normandie (2006), and delivering a masterclass. The connection between the French filmmaker and the Festival was so strong that we are glad to have him back for the 7th edition. His most recent film, Nénette (2010), which has never been shown in Spain, will be the starting signal of a festival that reinvents itself every year while being faithful to its core ideas. Nénette artfully summarises a philosophy on documentary film Punto de Vista feels at ease with. Nénette is both an intimate portrait and a social and historical chronicle where the documentary’s tradition and linguistic innovation, classicism and formal boldness, come together. Nénette gives the audience the chance to spend some time with an orangutan who is the star of the Parisian zoo as the voices of visitors, zoo keepers, and other people we never get to see build a subtle narrative over the images. Nénette will thus lay the foundations of a six-day fruitful and intense relationship between films and the inquisitive audiences that have turned Punto de Vista into a must-attend cultural event in Pamplona, in Navarra, and in Spain.
