Lois Patiño

Lois PatiñoThe work of Lois Patiño move between experimental documentary and video-art, and in recent years, has focused on the relationship of man with the landscape, based on a contemplative and poetic search. His works have been screened at art centres, such as the Georges Pompidou Centre, Reina Sofía Museum, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, CGAC, MARCO, Casa Encendida, etc. and at international festivals, such as, Media City Film Festival, Rome International Festival, Rencontres Internationales Paris/Madrid/Berlin, Jihlava Film Festival, Documenta Madrid or Las Palmas Festival. He combined his psychology studies at the Complutense University in Madrid with film studies at the TAI School. He continued his film studies at NYFA in New York and studied a Master’s Degree in Creative Documentary Film at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. He has also attended video-creation courses at the Künst University in Berlin and workshops with artists and filmmakers, such as Joan Jonas, Donald Kuspit, Pedro Costa, Víctor Erice, José Luis Guerín or Daniel Canogar. He has worked on the second full-length film by the director, Mercedes Álvarez Mercado de Futuros, and his more recent work, Montaña en sombra (2012), partly filmed in the Navarre Pyrenees, has been recently premiered in Roma film Festival, Cinema XXI section. Costa da Morte (2013), his last(full-length) film won Prize for best director at the 2013 Locarno Film Festival ( “Filmmakers of the Present” Section.)

Greta Alfaro

Greta AlfaroGreta Alfaro lives and works in London. In 2011, she graduated with an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art in London, having graduated in Fine Arts from Valencia Polytechnic University in 2001. Her video work has been on display at the Pompidou Centre in Paris, within the framework of Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin/Madrid. In 2011, her work formed part of the official section at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.

Her individual exhibitions include A Very Crafty and Tricky Contrivance at the Fish and Coal Building, London, 2012; Invención, curated by Andrea Paasch, at the Museum Ex Teresa Arte Actual in Mexico City, 2012; Elogio de la Bestia, Huarte Contemporary Art Centre in Pamplona, 2010; In IctuOculi, curated by Antonia Gaeta, at Carpe Diem Art and research, Lisbon, 2009; and Ricorrenza, curated by Alba Braza Boïls, at Dryphoto Contemporary Art, Prato, Italy, 2008, among others. Recent group exhibits include Whitechapel Open at the Whitechapel Gallery, London; Inanimate Beings. Inéditos at Casa Encendida, Madrid, Drama; Baby, Drama at the Kunsthaus Essen, Germany; Bestes, Bestiaux et Bestioles at La Conciergerie in Paris; and Bloomberg New Contemporaries at the London ICA.

Francina Verdés

Francina VerdésFrancina Verdés trained as a journalist and is specialised in Communication and armed conflicts. She is now working as a freelance journalist in the field of institutional communication and the broadcasting and production of cultural projects. She alternates her journalist facet with that of an independent filmmaker and producer of documentaries.

She got into documentary films in 2007, when she started studying a Master in Creative Documentaries at UAB, where she made her first documentary project, Ja tornes a gravar, a family and intimate short-length film revolving around the memory and death of a loved one. She has worked as a producer on various documentaries since then: El conserje (2009), Entre cirerers (2010) or Sueñero (2012). As a filmmaker, she moves between direct and close films that portray characters immersed in intimate and joint situations of conflict. Her filmography includes the documentaries Ja tornes a gravar (29 min, 2008), Coses rares que passaven abans (27 min, 2012) and Teresa sin mar (60 min, 2012), her first full-length film.
