This book, edited by author and curator Francisco Algarín and Garbiñe Ortega, is based on the idea that the letters between filmmakers, sent or not, can give valuable insight into the history of film, not as time’s arrow but rather as a series of layers from various times and places, which is what history always is. The book contains letters written by Joris Ivens, Jean Vigo, George Franju, Stan Brakhage, Chick Strand and Marguerite Duras, among others.
