Retrospectives

The objective of Punto de Vista’s retrospectives is to rethink the history of cinema, and to celebrate filmmakers and artists whose work has hardly been shown in Spain. Two retrospectives will take place this year. Curated by Alexander Horwath and Regina Schlagnitweit, the retrospective dedicated to Amos Vogel is intended as a tribute to the figure of this fundamental curator and founder of Cinema 16, on the one hundredth anniversary of his birth. Garbiñe Ortega, on the other hand, has curated the Nancy Holt season, a series of four programmes that bring together films by this multidisciplinary artist who was one of the leading exponents of the Land Art movement, and whose film work is practically unknown.

DOKBIZIA

2018 saw the inception of DOKBIZIA, an interdisciplinary encounter which aims to create a crossroads between languages and artists that work with and around what is real. This programme, which deals with the documentary on and off the screen, provides a tour through different formats: screenings, performative lectures, staged and site-specific pieces and performances.

Special screenings

The special sessions aim to expand the documentary concept beyond film screenings. One-off per- formances, exhibitions and shows which bring the image, the word and live music together.

X Films 2021

Since 2009 the Festival has invited three filmmakers to submit a project for a documentary film essay to be shot in Navarra. X Films sets out to offer new filmmakers the chance to create a new piece of work, and at the same time, it seeks to bring new voices on the documentary scene to the Navarra region. A jury selects the winning proposal and the candidate selected will have to carry out her project in the course of this year, as a personal essay lasting at least twenty minutes. That film then premieres at the next edition of Punto de Vista. This year the eleventh film to win X Films, Tengan cuidado ahí fuera, by Alberto Gracia, will be screened; and Irati Gorostidi, Tamara García and Elisa Celda have been invited as candidates for X Films 2021.

Educational program

Audience training and community work in Pamplona are some of Punto de Vista’s central objectives. Aimed primarily at young audiences, this programme proposes a series of activities to raise awareness and audiovisual appreciation. This year's edition will concentrate on the importance of sound and will include different workshops, sessions and screenings at several festival venues. Xabier Erkizia, Paula Olaz and the group Pixelatu will be laying on a range of workshops on the sound dimension and musical composition in film.
