Panel sessions: Women pioneers of Basque-Navarrese documentary film

Punto de Vista once again works with (H)emen and CIMA to organise round tables and conversations around the documentary film, this year with the support of Pamplona City Council through the Department of Equality, Community Action, Neighbourhoods, Citizen Participation and the Basque Language. This time, the women pioneers of documentary film in the Basque/Navarrese region Natalia Ardanaz, Mirentxu Loyarte and Ana Díez, moderated by María Pilar Rodríguez, reflect on how they started out in documentary film and the trail they blazed for other women film-makers.

Participants:

  • Mirentxu Loyarte (Director of Irrintzi)
  • Ana Díez (Director of Elvira Luz Cruz, pena máxima)
  • Natalia Ardanaz (PhD in Contemporary History. She has worked in collecting the memory of the women film pioneers in the Basque and Navarrese area).

Moderator:

  • María Pilar Rodríguez (Lecturer of Communication at the Deusto University and expert in Basque-Navarrese documentary cinema; coordinator of the book ´Cineastas Vascas´ (Basque women film-makers), the first book that groups several essays about women essential to our cinema.
