A project by Drac Màgic
What is the film archive? We have been experiencing, living and feeling emotions through cinema for 130 years. A whole host of moving images have been collected during that time, as well as stills, posters, programmes, leaflets, etc. to create an incredibly rich legacy. In this activity, we propose starting with some of those static archive materials and setting them in motion.
Using the stop motion technique and an endless range of plastic pieces, we will work together to compose a new, entertaining and special cinema universe while exploring the possibilities of animating the inanimate.
The workshop will take place over two separate sessions:
Drac Màgic is a social cooperative that was set up in 1971 to study and communicate audiovisual culture. Our mission is to inspire thought and action around images so as to help build a responsible, active and creative society in terms of visual culture and its role in the creation of worldviews. Our main initiatives include the following: Construir Mirades, an educational project for training in audiovisual languages; the Mostra Internacional de Films de Dones in Barcelona, a film festival run by women; and Pack Màgic, a children’s cinema distribution company.
