In recent years, a number of significant and innovative animated films have emerged from several corners of the country. Designed for all the family, this session offers a brief overview of some of those films. We will begin with a story created by José Prats and Álvaro Robles; Parapluies. In a village where the rain never stops, Kyna spends the days happily playing under the protection of her father’s beard, literally providing an umbrella for her. One night, her dog Nana disappears. To find her, Kyna must face her greatest fear: the rain. We will then watch a short film about what it means to be bad and its consequences: Él corrió junto a su camarada, by Genís Rigol. The film tells the story of a businessman who creates problems for the people around him in order to then solve them in front of a camera and gain controversial popularity.
The session will conclude with another twist on the topic of family; La primavera siempre vuelve, by Alicia Núñez Puerto. It is spring and grandma Margara is teaching her four grandchildren how to plant flowers in small pots. Three of them decide to fly far away from the family patio in which they live to go out and discover the world. The years pass, the grandmother gets old and those who left remain present, in their own way... but never like those who stayed. Distance may not bring a return and people might come back, or not. But the spring always comes around again. The spring will always return.
