Natalie Bookchin, an artist and theorist specialising in digital media, brings together the fragmented audiovisual archive of the internet through a critical analysis of society. Through a massive re-editing, Mass Ornament coordinates solitary bedroom dances and mimetic mass choreographies, exposing the contradictions between individual freedom and social control.
The Québécois artist and filmmaker Dominic Gagnon has explored internet portraits in depth, producing up to seven feature-length films. Using what he calls “remote direct cinema”, he has observed Western society —RIP in pieces, America, 2009—, travelled to the Arctic —Of the North, 2015—, the south —Going South, 2018— and the east —Big in China, 2020—.
