Alejandro Díaz Castaño (Asturias, 1979) has been the director of the International Film Festival of Gijon since 2017, where he had already worked as a programmer in 2010 and 2011. He was also the Head of Programming for the European Film Festival of Sevilla from 2012 to 2016. He is a member of FIPRESCI and has contributed to monthly magazines such as Caimán Cuadernos de Cine and Rockdelux. He has collaborated in a number of collective volumes on audiovisual topics and, in 2015, he published his first solo book, Olvidos vergonzosos. In 2016 he wrote and directed the short film Ihesa (La fuga) an over the last few years he has been a member of the panel of judges for awards such as BAFICI, Edinburgh IFF, Crossing Europe Linz, Cinélatino Toulouse and Las Palmas.
