María Zamora

María ZamoraMaría Zamora holds a degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Film Production from the University of Valencia. She joined Avalon in January 2001, producing short films by such directors as Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, Natalia Mateo or Nacho Ruiz Capillas, and feature films like David Planell’s La vergüenza, Javier Rebollo’s La mujer sin piano or León Siminiani’s Mapa. She was also involved in international co-productions like Acné by Federico Veiroj.

In 2007, María founded Avalon P.C. with Stefan Schmitz, a production company usually working with Avalon D.A., a distributor of independent films and a partner of FILMIN.

She has always been interested in short films as a source of emerging talents, supporting them in the creation of their first projects – short or feature films, fiction or non-fiction. She believes there is no single formula in film production, for no two filmmakers or films are the same.

María is now working in the pre-production of Todos están muertos, a feature film by Beatriz Sanchis, whose short films La clase (Goya nominee in 2009) and Mi otra mitad (Berlinale 2010) were also produced by Zamora.
