Film critic, programmer, journalist and editor. He is the author of Jerry Lewis (University of Illinois Press), The World and Its Double: The Life and Work of Otto Preminger (Faber & Faber), and Jacques Tourneur: The Cinema of Nightfall (Johns Hopkins University Press). He is also the general editor of the anthology Defining Moments in Movies (also known as Little Black Book: Movies; Cassell) and was the editor of Undercurrent, the film-criticism magazine of FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics). Fujiwara has written on film for numerous periodicals and anthologies and has lectured on film aesthetics and film history at Tokyo University, Yale University, Rhode Island School of Design, and elsewhere. From 2012 to 2014 he was Artistic Director of Edinburgh International Film Festival.
VIVA PACI (CANADÁ)
Film Studies Professor at the École des Médias, within Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM, Canada), and Director of the Master Degree Program Cinéma et images en mouvement. She holds a Ph.D. from Université de Montréal in Literature and Film Studies and has been a visiting scholar in European and Canadian universities. She has codirected several large-scale international conferences an she is the author of some books in French and Italian. A number of the articles she has authored on Film History and Film Theory deal with topics central to Punto de Vista, such as the Film Essay, Experimental Documentaries, Home movies, Non-Fiction Film Works, Travel and Travelogues Film-Making, Islands’ Movies. And for some years now, she’s been working on Webdocumentary as a learning tool, with her students. Her previous experiences as a jury’s member in documentary related festivals are at Vues d’Afrique y Festival Présence Autochtone - Montréal First Peoples Festival.
ERIC PAUWELS (BÉLGICA)
Graduate in Scenography from the National Institute of the Performing Arts, INSAS in Brussels, he is also a graduate in religious studies audiovisual laboratory and has a Doctorate in Cinematography from the Sorbonne under the tuition of Jean Rouch. He was a lecturer at the INSAS between 1985 and 2008, and a member of the SIC (Sound / Image / Culture: audiovisual anthropology laboratory). He is a writer, playwright, producer and director of numerous documentaries. Between 1976 and 1983, he made a series of 10 ethnographic documentaries on dance. He later made films, such as Violin Phase (1985), Un Film (1986), Face à Face (1988), Lettre d'un cineaste à sa fille (2002) or Les Films Rêvés (2010) foe which he obtained a special mention in the Youth Jury of the Cinéma du Réel in 2010.
MADS MIKKELSEN (DINAMARCA)
Film programmer at CPH: DOX –Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival– since 2008. CPH: DOX is one of the largest documentary festivals in the world with an internationally recognized profile that borders on staging, visual art and performance as well as other art forms. Mads Mikkelsen has a background in film studies at the universities of Copenhagen and Stockholm, with an intermission as an assistant at the Film- Makers’ Cooperative in New York. Besides programming for CPH:DOX he is an associate programme at the Danish Film Institute / Cinematheque, as well as having run a number of film clubs and contributing to various magazines and publications about film.
CARLOS REVIRIEGO (ESPAÑA)
Film critic, journalist, programmer and lecturer. He has directed the film section of El Cultural (El Mundo) since 1999 and was the editor-in-chief of Cahiers du Cinéma-España from 2007 to 2010. He is currently a member of the Editorial Board of Caimán-Cuadernos de Cine and a regular contributor on its pages, whilst coordinating the El Cultural film section, whereby he publishes the To be continued… blog on television series on its website. He is also the artistic director of the Film Department of the TAI School, where he gives classes on Film Aesthetics, and is a member of the Programming Committee of the German Film Festival in Madrid. He is author of Dos Miradas a un Territorio (2009), and has worked on diverse books, such as Los Poetas del Cine (Litoral, 2003), Nouvelle Vague. Los Caminos de la Modernidad (Seminci, 2009), Fatih Akin. El Hogar Errante (Gijon Festival, 2009), La Medida de los Tiempos. El cortometraje español en la década de 2000 (ALCINE) or El Universo de Clint Eastwood (Notorius Ediciones, 2010).
