Country: Canada

Direction: Marie-Hélène Cousineau

Spanish premiere
A project by Arnait Video Productions (the first group of women filmmakers in the Arctic), this films is a first-person exploration of family relations in Inuit culture, based on solidarity and cooperation. Rooted in tradition, adoption is a reality with
which all Inuit families have experience. This documentary, which Marie-Hélène Cousineau directed in collaboration with Mary Kunuk, explores Inuit family relations through the personal histories of women who have experienced adoption in one way or another. In so doing, it falls within the trend of feminist collaborative film, in which the traditional mode of enunciation (“I speak about you for them”) gives way to an inclusive mode (“We speak to you about us”).
New York American Indian Cinema and Video Festival 2006.
