ANTONIA LLOBET SANS
Country: Spain
Year: 1950
Duration: 10'
Direction: Lorenç Llobet Gràcia
Llorenç Llobet Gràcia films his daughter from birth and through different stages of her life, as she grows up, cheerful and happy. The value of this film lies in its awareness of film production as archive, for the director heavily draws on archive images. This way, Llobet Gràcia anticipates practices that will become popular many years later, when used by Jonas Mekas.
Lorenç Llobet Gràcia
Born in Sabadell, Llorenç Llobet Gràcia took his first steps in amateur film in the decade before the Spanish Civil War. His unprecedented experimental vein reached its climax in Pregària a la Verge dels Colls, using close-ups and alternation of colour and black-and-white images for the first time in the history of film. Llobet Gràcia was one of the first amateur filmmakers to use background music matching scenes and sound effects.
