30Km

Year2003 Duration32 min. DirectorSimon Faithfull

Final flight in this programme which is a pilotless journey by the British artist, Simon Faithfull, a veteran of the air, who likes to test the law of gravity in each piece and in this case, the stratosphere too. The journey here is presented in this way: it starts with a face, that of the artist in a close-up releasing a camera on a weather balloon in the countryside of the south of England, and the final destination is none other than the final edge of space. The balloon travels in a single plane as it gradually moves away from the earth and lasts the same minutes as the kilometres it travels. All of this is accompanied by the tension of watching it and thinking when it will explode and stop emitting a signal in this suicide film.
