It all started with a bus ride, a book by Phillip Lopate and a thief. Muhammad was on a trip from Singapure to Kuala Lumpur while reading a chapter about the essay-film in Totally, Tenderly, Tragically. “I wanted to make an essay-film too! Essays are necessarily about ego: you're telling someone that your own point of view is important enough for them to shut up, if only for a few minutes, and listen. Once you have their attention, it's a privilege  to then try and make a connection ». A few minutes after stepping down from the bus, his wallet got stolen, and this experience set in motion a chain of events that would result in the creation of Lost. The other five shorts followed in pretty much the same style. Muhammad wanted to document what he had experienced and also test how it would suit a moving-picture re presentation. So he borrowed a friend's camera and revisited the sites for one day. There were no actors or storyboard. The idea was to keep it as freewheeling as possible. And always aiming to highlight the ridiculous in things we all take for granted as normal.
