Thirty years after the first feminist meeting ever held in Spain (1979), people take to the streets in Granada again and stand up for the ideas held by today’s feminism in its wide variety of identities. A transgender and transgenerational celebration: explosive, enthusiastic, contagious. In the words of Ms Barriga, “Even in its diversity, feminism is a social movement and a philosophy of life that keeps moving and transforming. It was worthwhile recording this moment in images to contribute to the fragile collective memory of what happened in Granada after 30 years and 5,000 feminisms.”
Cecilia Barriga has worked as a filmmaker and audiovisual artist since 1986. She writes her own scripts and draws on multiple media and genres: film, TV documentary, video creation, and others. Her work has been on display in cinemas, on TV, and in such international museums as the Museo Reina Sofía, the Nikolaj Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, or Matadero Madrid.
