India Time (1978) was created after a trip that Hafif made to India with Robert Morris. Among the different places they visited were the workshops of local masons. The thematic and formal spectrum encompasses everything from historical accounts to narrations of dreams. Hafif’s monologue, in which she recites a conversation between the two travellers, serves as a way of introducing a speech on a teleological conception of time. The film continuously comes back to this theme, tackling it from diverse angles.
