Introduction and Q&A with Tania Hernández Velasco and Semillites Hernández Velasco (filmmakers) and Ekhiñe Etxeberria (film programmer).

Tania and Semillites’ film is based on the bond between two siblings and proposes a perspective in which the body ceases to be merely intimate so as to reveal itself as a space traversed by history, heritage, and learned gaze.

Nuestro Cuerpo Es Una Estrella Que Se Expande is a deeply personal, poetic, and experimental film that combines abstract cinema, performative elements, family portrait, and bodily landscape. Co-directed by Tania and Semillites, the film proposes a metaphorical journey through their bodies, which have been rejected and are filmed as landscapes with valleys, rivers, and salt flats. They thus appear as a territory traversed by identity and memory. Through play and formal experimentation, the film explores bodily and racial identity, heritage, and memory, and opens itself to the reimagining of colonial narratives, situating itself closer to sensory experience than to conventional storytelling. It stands out, above all, for its plasticity and for its work with the textures of the images and voices. At times, the film draws more towards Tania's experience; at others, towards Semillites’; and at some others, both voices intertwine and become fully integrated, giving rise to a sensitivity and intimacy that extends beyond the screen.
