Spanish premiere
“This Quality is curious about the face: in the first half, the camera looks intently in a tightly-framed close-up at a woman’s face as she sits outside a café, her eyes avoiding looking into the camera; in the second half, we see a series of parked cars covered with fabric that, says Nashashibi, ‘suggests a sightless face… conspicuously hidden.’ […] Seen and unseen, veiled and unveiled: by transposing the veil from the woman (who is bareheaded) to the cars (which are in male public space), Nashashibi makes a telling and brilliant play with complex ideas through what, on the surface, is a deceptively simple, charmingly observant film.”
