Introduction and Q&A with Adrià Expòsit-Goy (filmmaker) and Margot Mecca (film programmer).
A beech tree suffering from a strange form of anorexia writes a diary on its own bark for a year. In a world shaken by climate collapse, its fragile body becomes a reflection of our struggle to adapt.
Ecosystem relationship deficit, poor adaptation to the Capitalocene, forest anorexia disorder. That is the strange diagnosis of a beech tree — a living being, fragile but persistent, in need of treatment. In the form of an experimental fable, Adrià Expòsit-Goy draws a parallel between human and plant wounds, establishing an intimate relationship between their states of health and instability, observing how the tree’s body and the human body respond to the same systemic vulnerability. The film suggests a reciprocal relationship between human beings and the Earth and its inhabitants, exploring the possibility of mutual listening and the search for shared codes and languages for interspecies coexistence. It will not be scientific methods that guide this process, but instead cinematic ones. Through contemplative autofiction, the filmmaker listens to this plant organism through a beautiful rendering of the passing of the seasons, creating a serene atmosphere in search of healing.
