Jara Yáñez is a graduated in History of Art from the Autonomous University of Madrid, where she later obtained a Doctorate in the History of Film. She is currently editor of the Caimán Cuadernos de Cine magazine and contributes to other publications, such as Secuencias, L’Atalante and Rinconete by the Cervantes Institute. She was a member of the Documenta Madrid Advisory Committee until 2012 and has been a member of the Alcalá de Henares Film Festival Selection Committee since 2011. She is the author of the book, The Arithmetic of Creation. Interviews with Contemporary Spanish Film Producers (in conjunction with Luis L. Carrasco, Alcine, 2009) and editor of The Measure of Time. Spanish short stories in the Noughties (Alcine, 2010). She has also coordinated the book Spanish Film for the New Century. The Contemporary Look (Tesalónica, 2007). In 2014, she curated the Sin que tu lo sepas Aprender en cualquier momento, en cualquier lugar children’s film cycle for the Reina Sofía Museum and lectures in courses on film reviews.
