The work of Lois Patiño move between experimental documentary and video-art, and in recent years, has focused on the relationship of man with the landscape, based on a contemplative and poetic search. His works have been screened at art centres, such as the Georges Pompidou Centre, Reina Sofía Museum, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, CGAC, MARCO, Casa Encendida, etc. and at international festivals, such as, Media City Film Festival, Rome International Festival, Rencontres Internationales Paris/Madrid/Berlin, Jihlava Film Festival, Documenta Madrid or Las Palmas Festival. He combined his psychology studies at the Complutense University in Madrid with film studies at the TAI School. He continued his film studies at NYFA in New York and studied a Master’s Degree in Creative Documentary Film at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. He has also attended video-creation courses at the Künst University in Berlin and workshops with artists and filmmakers, such as Joan Jonas, Donald Kuspit, Pedro Costa, Víctor Erice, José Luis Guerín or Daniel Canogar. He has worked on the second full-length film by the director, Mercedes Álvarez Mercado de Futuros, and his more recent work, Montaña en sombra (2012), partly filmed in the Navarre Pyrenees, has been recently premiered in Roma film Festival, Cinema XXI section. Costa da Morte (2013), his last(full-length) film won Prize for best director at the 2013 Locarno Film Festival ( “Filmmakers of the Present” Section.)
