Maider Fernández Iriarte (Donostia, 1988) is an educator and filmmaker. She studied Social Education at the University of the Basque Country, and Film and Television Production at the Escuela de Cine y Video (ESCIVI) before completing a Master’s degree in Creative Documentary Film at the Pompeu Fabra University. She has also taken part in various educational projects related to film, such as Cinema en curs, and the audiovisual cooperative Drac Màgic. She was a member of the collective Las chicas de Pasaik. Her work has been recognised at numerous festivals, such as Mar de Plata, Málaga, Göteborg, Zinebi and Gijón; and art centres —DA2000, Institut Valencià d'Art Modern and The Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow. Her first feature film, "Las letras de Jordi", premiered in the New Directors section at the San Sebastián Festival in 2019 and received special mentions from the jury at Alcances and L'Alternativa.
