7th Punto de Vista Festival to be illustrated by Aaron Huey’s photo

Faithful to the line embraced in 2007, Punto de Vista has chosen an image by a professional photographer for the Festival's next edition, to be held in Pamplona from February 22 to 27. The American photographer Aaron Huey has transferred the Festival the rights to use a photograph in his series "Walk Across America" as the image of the 7th edition. In past editions, the Festival used photographs by Clemente Bernad, Matías Costa, Ellen Kooi, and Vincent Fournier.

In 2002, Aaron Huey and his dog Cosmo walked from Encinitas, California, to Coney Island, New York. The journey, which totalled 3,349 miles (5,388 kilometres), took 154 days. There was no media coverage. They walked every step. The photograph that will illustrate Punto de Vista 2011 was taken on day 38, km. 1,168, in Quemado, New Mexico.

After his "Walk Across America," Huey took a two-year-and-a-half break in his career as a photographer to work on a new project: the Hueyhaüs Artist Space in the Pecos River, east of Santa Fe.

Aaron Huey is a frequent contributor to Smithsonian, Harper's Bazaar, The New Yorker, The New York Times, National Geographic, and many more in the foreign press. He has photographed Taliban ambushes and drug eradication in Afghanistan, antiquities smuggling in Mali, lost temples in Burma, and circling sharks in French Polynesia (without a cage).

Nominated for the PDN (Photo District News) Photo Annual 2007 award, Huey is the recipient of many awards, like the one granted by NPPA (National Press Photographers Association) or the renowned POYi (Pictures of the Year International).He lives in Seattle in between adventures.

Huey is currently working on both a book and a film based on his five-year photo project in Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota.
