Punto de Vista 2011 is coming to a close with a gala and award ceremony, and the screening of Notas de lo efímero/Notes on the Ephemeral, the documentary shot by Chus Domínguez en Pamplona in 2010 in the context of the X Films Project. X Films is the project launched to give new documentary makers the chance to shoot a video essay in Navarra, in the spirit the Navarra-based production company founded by Juan Huarte in 1963, X Films, focusing on films that were interesting from the artistic point of view or embodied special values. Thus, the X Films Project reflects Punto de Vista’s commitment to the production of innovative, inquisitive, or experimental non-fiction film.
The work by Chus Domínguez is the first X Films product, and it has lived up to everybody’s expectations. It is a beautiful short film, a sort of notebook where the director recorded his stay at Pensión Eslava, in the old town of Pamplona, from March 20 to April 11, 2010. In Notas de lo efímero (trailer), Domínguez films as we live: without going back, without changing anything, accepting our mistakes, looking into the fleeting lives of people who come and go. His images become notes on the inexorable passage of time and, as such, they capture the impossibility of going beyond the evident in film.
Punto de Vista 2011 is again giving emerging Spanish documentary directors the chance to shoot their video essays in Navarra. The candidates chosen to submit their projects this year are Elia Urquiza, Daniel Cuberta, and the creative duo WeareQQ.
