Our artistic director Oskar Alegria continues on his career path as a judge. Having judged the New Directors section at the latest Zinemaldia festival in San Sebastián, alongside Marina Stavenhagen, Carmen Cobos, Karel Och and Sophie Mirouze, Oskar Alegria is travelling in November to be one of the judges for the Pravo Ljudski Festival in Sarajevo and the Rencontres Internationales du Documentaire de Montréal, two major events in the independent film industry of the Balkans and the documentary film industry in North America.
The Pravo Ljudski Festival in Sarajevo has been taking place since 2006, promoted by an organisation that runs this festival every year along with others, aimed at defending human rights through film and the arts in general. The Rencontres Internationales du Documentaire de Montréal is Canada's International Documentary Film Festival. This festival was first launched in 1998, when a group of documentary film makers created a platform to provide a new practical and innovative perspective on documentary film, with films that focus on social, political, and environmental issues.
