Festival calls for volunteers for next Edition The Navarra International Documentary Film Festival – Punto de Vista is calling for volunteers for its 9th edition, to be held in Pamplona from 10 to 15 February 2015. Applicants must fill in the form on the Festival’s website by 15 January.

The Punto de Vista Documentary Film Festival will once more be held annually in 2015 organised in conjunction with Fundación Baluarte The Punto de Vista International Documentary Film Festival will once more be held every year as of 2015. The Government of Navarra considers that the annual dynamic is better suited for an event of the characteristics of a film festival such as Punto de Vista. To do so, the provincial government is committed to make a budgetary effort and organise this event in conjunction with the Fundación Baluarte. Therefore, in 2015, the festival’s production will be co-organised with the Fundación Baluarte, whilst the management will be the responsibility of the Department of Culture of the Government of Navarra.

1,237 films have registered in this year’s Punto de Vista Navarra International Documentary Film Festival A total of 1,237 films, including feature length and short documentaries, have registered to participate in this year’s selection process for the 9th edition of the Punto de Vista Navarra International Documentary Film Festival. The event will be held from 10th to 15th February 2015 at the Baluarte Auditorium and Conference Centre in Navarra.

A photograph of a remote island off Iceland by the German photographer, Chris Zielecki, will be the image of the ninth edition of the Punto de Vista Festival The Punto de Vista Festival has the billboard for its forthcoming edition. In keeping with the tradition of using an image by a professional photographer to illustrate each edition, which was started in 2007, on this occasion the Lonely (explored) photograph taken by Chris Zielecki in Iceland has been chosen. The German photographer has transferred the rights to this photograph to the festival for use as the image of the ninth edition, which will be held in Pamplona from 10th to 15th February 2015. Clemente Bernad, Matías Costa, Ellen Koi, Vicent Fournier, Aaron Huey, Bill Brown, Sharon Lockhart and Marcin Ryczek have collaborated as photographers in previous editions.

The Punto de Vista Festival will programme a retrospective cycle devoted to the Scottish filmmaker, Margaret Tait The films of Margaret Caroline Tait (Kirkwall, Scotland, 1918-1999) will feature in one of the three retrospectives that the Punto de Vista Navarra International Documentary Film Festival has programmed for its 9th edition, which will be held from 10th to 15th February 2015 at the Baluarte Auditorium in Pamplona. Another of the retrospectives organised by Punto de Vista will be dedicated to islands.

Punto de Vista debuts its Youth Jury, made up of 50 young people between the ages of 18 and 25, who will award 1,500 euros For the first time in its history, the 9th edition of the Punto de Vista International Documentary Film Festival will have a Youth Jury, which will be made up of 50 young people between the ages of 18 and 25. Participation in the Youth Jury is voluntary and involves a commitment to attend the screening of all the films in the Official section, in their morning sessions, which will take place between 10th and 15th February 2015 at the Navarra Auditorium and Conference Centre, Baluarte.

El otro día, by Ignacio Agüero, and In Ictu Oculi, by Greta Alfaro, win awards at Les Rencontres Cinematografiques de Cerbère-Portbou Les Rencontres Cinematografiques de Cerbère-Portbou, a film festival that this year marks its tenth edition, announced its winners on Sunday 5th October. The Chilean filmmaker Ignacio Agüero, one of the two guest filmmakers at the 2014 Punto de Vista International Seminar, has won two awards for his film El otro día: a special mention and an artist-in-residence position at the Hotel Bellvedere Le Rayon Vert de Cerbère, the venue for Les Rencontres, which the director must complete before the next edition of the festival, in October 2015. Greta Alfaro, a director from Navarre, who took part in the Punto de Vista Festival in 2013 as participant in the Proyecto X Films showcase, received another special mention for her short film In Ictu Oculi. Other awards were presented to Être vivant, by Emmanuel Gras, nominated by the Cinemaginaire festival (who also won an artist-in-residence prize) and Iranien, by Mehran Tamadon, nominated by Cinema du Réel.

Punto de Vista Festival Network of International Delegates The Punto de Vista Festival has reinforced its network of international delegates and this year, has created a team of four programmers who are working to extend the scope of the festival and put it in contact with film-makers from diverse geographic areas. Andrea Picard, director of Wavelengths (section of the Toronto International Festival), and who is responsible for the United States and Canada; Elena Fortes, director of the Mexican travelling documentary festival and head of Latin America, Nourddinne Ben Driss, director of the Tetouan Documentary Film Festival section, who represents us in Africa. These three professionals have joined the Festival’s delegate in Asia, Asako Fujioka, programmer, until last year, of the Yamagata Film Festival in Japan.

La Casa de Mi Padre (My Father’s House), award winner at the Alcances Festival, will tour diverse film festivals this autumn La casa de mi padre, the film by Francina Verdés produced by Punto de Vista within the framework of the X Films Project, could not have had a better start to its film festival tour: on 13th September, it took away the award for the Best Medium-length Documentary Film at the Alcances Documentary Film Festival. Following its visit to Cadiz, the film will be presented at the Cinespaña Festival in Toulouse this autumn (3rd-12th October), at Som Cinema in Lleida (23rd-26th October) and at Transcinema in Lima, in November.
