Those who are not registered in the seminar but wish to attend the afternoon sessions may purchase tickets via the Punto de Vista website and the Navarra Film Library or the Saide Cinema, depending on the screening venue.

The Seminar will have a special closing event: Snow Movies, Perspectives on Filming through the Cold The Punto de Vista Seminar 2014 (Pamplona, 19th – 22nd February) is going to close with a special event which will be held on Saturday 22nd February at 8 pm at the SAIDE Carlos III Cinema in the centre of Pamplona. It is an event that is aimed not only at film-goers, but also at literature and art enthusiasts in general, as it will be presented by the novelist, poet and translator Menchu Gutiérrez, author of the brilliant essay, Decir la Nieve (Saying Snow).

Menchu Gutiérrez, Snow Guide Heading the Snow Movies session, in which we will screen four films related and devoted to snow, we have invited one of the best Sherpas in the world of creation and the weather: Menchu Gutiérrez, expert writer on the theme of storms, fog and snow, who will accompany us on a white journey from Japan to Siberia in this special session that will close the seminar. Menchu has lived in the Igeldo lighthouse and has now retired to the mountains of Cantabria. She knows first-hand the confines and has written a beautiful and profound text for this year’s book: Fifty Centimetres of Snow. She tells us that: “Snow is the sheet of paper, the cinema screen, the first book laid out on the floor in which our prints are inscribed”.

La Casa de mi Padre (My Father’s House) by Francina Verdés, winner of the X Films Project 2013, will be screened on 22nd February On Saturday 22nd February, the X Films Project will offer a double bill at the 5.30 pm session held at the Saide Carlos III Cinema: the Punto de Vista Festival will reveal the winning project of this year’s edition and will screen La Casa de mi Padre (My Father’s House) by Francina Verdés, winner of the X Films Project last year. Tickets can be purchased for 3€, at the cinema box office.

A great conversationalist Eduardo Coutinho came to Pamplona from Rio in February 2013 for a retrospective organised by Punto de Vista Film Festival. He was 80. Despite the risk that, at his age, he might refuse to deliver a talk after the screening of his films, we planned several presentations, lectures and even a morning meeting with film students. Coutinho also attended a meeting with the press along with German filmmaker Thomas Heise, who was also the subject of a retrospective, and held an interview for the Festival’s media library.

Final places for the Punto de Vista Seminar 2014 There is just over a month to go to the II Punto de Vista Seminar (Pamplona, 19th to 22nd February). The seminar has been well accepted and 70% of the 100 places available have already been taken. If you are interested in registering, we urge you to do so as soon as possible by filling in the registration form at this website. The registration fee is 75€, and includes accreditation, a monographic publication on the two guest filmmakers, two master classes, entry to screenings, coffee breaks on 20th, 21st, and 22nd February and lunch on 20th and 21st February. If you would also like to attend the lunch on Saturday 22nd, the registration fee will be 90€.

New phase of the Punto de Vista FOCO Cycle: 30th January, screening of And Now? Remind Me by Joaquim Pinto Punto de Vista returns to the Punto de Vista FOCO cycle with the screening of the latest film by Joaquim Pinto E Agora? Lembra-me / And Now?, Remind Me, on Thursday 30th January, which has won the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Festival 2013 and first prize at the Montreal RIDM Documentary Festival last November. It will be screened at 7.30 pm in the Navarra Film Library.

A special book for Punto de Vista Collection At Punto de Vista, we are aware of the current times, but we also try to create a space for the history of cinema with a transversal look. In a bid for reflection, we use the screen and paper and therefore, since its outset, the festival has edited monographic publications - under the name of Punto de Vista Collection - with the filmmakers, currents, countries or trends we think should be looked at in more detail. Along this line and to celebrate the “The Frozen Image” film seminar, we are also preparing a paper version, a special book that will help to gain a better understanding of the films by our guest filmmakers, Ignacio Agüero and Pema Tseden, and the proposal to hold an event around the frozen image.
