As it has been done for the while now, the last Thursday of the month, a new documentary picked by the members of the Punto de Vista team will be screened at the Navarra Film Library. On 24 September, the screening will be dedicated to the debut film of Paraguayan director Arami Ullón, El tiempo nublado (Cloudy Times, 2014), about the relationship between the filmmaker, living in Switzerland, and her ailing mother in Paraguay. The film explores Ullón’s guilt as she gets caught in the horns of a dilemma: pursuing her career in Europe or going back to her homeland and take care of her mother. A film about mother-daughter relationships (what is usually referred to as ‘the umbilical cord’), which has received awards in a variety of festivals, including Visions du Réel (Nyon, Switzerland) and Cinélatino, Rencontres de Toulouse. The film will compete for a nomination in the forthcoming edition of the Oscars and the Goya Awards. It is the first time that a Paraguayan film stands for the Oscars and the third for the Goya Awards.

Then, on Thursday 5 November (instead of the last week of October), the film being screened will be Terra nullius (No Man’s Land, 2012), by Portuguese director Salomé Lamas, who will be there to take part in a discussion of the film. Terra nullius is a documentary based on the confessions of a Portuguese mercenary who fought in the Dirty Wars in Africa, openly talking about his deads and killings (even the price for each dead target) in the French Basque Country.
