The deadline for entries to the Punto de Vista festival closed in September, having been open for the three summer months. For the third year running, the festival has received over a thousand entries for its official section, highlighting, as pointed out by its artistic director Oskar Alegria, "the good health and growing international interest in this film festival".

Keywan Karimi is sentenced to 1 year in prison and 223 lashes

The Iranian filmmaker, Keywan Karimi, has finally been sentenced to one year imprisonment, 223 lashes and a fine of 20 million Iranian Rial (around 600 euros) for his film, Writing on the City, which was premiered worldwide in the tenth edition of the Punto de Vista Festival, where he was given a Special Mention by the international jury. This is the final sentence which cannot be ap-pealed issued by the Court of Appeal of Iran in recent hours.

Directed by the filmmakers Ainara Vera (originally from Pamplona) and the Russian Victor Kossakovsky, Mira, mi rey (2014) was shot in sequence in the historic heart of Navarre's capital. But far from being constricted to local reality, it is a conceptual piece filled with questions that reflect on the essence and values of an entire country, offering a debate about the function and validity of an institution such as the monarchy in Spain.
