The film by Andrés Duque, Oleg y las raras artes, earned a special award at the film festival held in the French border town of Cerbère. This picture, which tells the story of pianist and musician Oleg Karavachiuk, was the film chosen by the Punto de Vista Festival this year to represent its 2016 edition. First prize went to Paradise by the Iranian director Sina Ataeian Dena, chosen by the Nantes Festival des 3 continents.
The Rencontres Cinématographiques de Cerbère take place in the Hotel Belvédère du Rayon-Vert, an emblematic location in cinema and surrealist architecture, located on the border between Catalonia and France, where every year a large group of independent film festivals get together, including L´Alternativa, Cinéma du Réel, Fid Marseille, and Cinemaginaire, each one with a film that represents them. Ignacio Agüero's El otro día, also chosen by Punto de Vista, won the Grand Prize at the 2014 edition.
