The designer will exhibit some of his collages ‘made from leftovers’ in the Baluarte Auditorium from the 5 th to the 10 th of March. There is a name behind Punto de Vista 2018’s change of skin and colour: Dani Sanchis. He came up with the beautiful image adorning the festival this year, Maris posan, with which he has renewed the competition’s image. The collage, a ‘free mixture of styles and forms’, shows three women with butterfly wings sprouting from their heads to reflect ‘the desire that the programme proposed blow our minds in a thousand places.’

The exhibition, which goes by the title ‘Reunión de ajenos o casi’, contains a collection of some of the collages he has created in his experiments as a visual artist. The filmmaker Javier Rebollo -EL MUERTO Y SER FELIZ, LA MUJER SIN PIANO- has worked shoulder to shoulder with Sanchis and defines the exhibition and the designer’s style in these words: ‘turning the work around to make it a work; work made from leftovers, a gesture as insolent as it is beautiful and contemporary, from Warhol and Douglas Houbler to Walid Raad and his Atlas Group.’ The exhibition will be on display in the foyer of the Baluarte throughout Punto de Vista.

In his work, Sanchis recycles and unites objects, cuttings and lost photographs to bring them new life through a new appearance. A style which, once again, Rebollo summarises to perfection: ‘a game of appropriation and intrusion as playful as it is serious, he unites with beautiful and fantastic cheek objects brought from the sea or the trash to shape anonymous faces which finally resemble themselves in an unlikely archive or catalogue. Found photography, saved and used as a (pre)text, or how to do photography without a camera, Dani Sanchis goes from the document to the plot.’

Sanchis is a designer with multiple dimensions and facets who works, above all, for the culture industry, the film world, publishers, the press and commercial brands. In his own words, his premises are ‘coherence, functionality, simplicity, aesthetics, thorough attention to detail and social responsibility’, and he understands visual language as ‘an essential and inexhaustible medium of communication.’

The exhibition will be open to the public in the foyer of the Baluarte Auditorium throughout the 12 th edition of Punto de Vista. A unique opportunity to enjoy the work of

this evocative artist.
