The piece was made during the workshop given by the well-known archivist and film-maker and shown at the festival closing event in 2019.
A highlight of the Punto de Vista Labs programme in 2019 was the workshop “Participatory Cinema: Assembly over Algorithm” given by Rick Prelinger at the Huarte contemporary arts centre. During the workshop, the film “Lost Landscapes: Pamplona” was made collectively by the participants. It forms part of “Lost Landscapes”, a series of films made by Prelinger since 2006 exclusively with archive material and each portraying a city. Thus, Pamplona joined the list made up of New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit and Oakland. “Lost Landscapes: Pamplona” is a combination of intimate moments, memories of neighbourhoods and other curious film viewpoints shot by amateur film-makers.
The film, which was shown on the last day of the festival at Baluarte and was made with the collaboration of the Huarte contemporary arts centre and the Filmoteca de Navarra, is available for viewing in full on the Punto de Vista Video channel: https://vimeo.com/puntodevistafestival.
Rick Prelinger is an archivist, film-maker, lecturer at the University of California and creator of the Prelinger Archives (a collection of public-domain audiovisual pieces). Since 1985 he has been a key figure in the film archive field, and today his collection is shown all over the world by Getty Images. He sits on the board of Internet Archive and, together with Megan Prelinger, founded the Prelinger Library, a private research library supporting audiovisual appropriation in the centre of San Francisco.
