This Friday Punto de Vista presents in Madrid X FILMS X, a special programme for the 10th anniversary of X Films, run together with the Instituto Cervantes.

A round table is to be held at the Instituto Cervantes, and there will be a screening at the Cine Estudio del Círculo de Bellas Artes

In 2010 Punto de Vista launched the X Films project, an initiative that ended up becoming a key part of the festival. Under Josetxo Cerdán as artistic director, the festival created a project that consists of inviting three film makers every year to present an idea for an audiovisual essay to be shot in Navarra, and the winner has to make the film during the same year, to be premièred at the next edition of Punto de Vista. Thus, every year X Films presents a film produced by the festival itself and hosts the proposals submitted by the three guest film makers that year.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of this initiative, the festival has set up X FILMS X, a programme run in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes, presented on Thursday 13th February in Madrid.

The presentation will be at 1pm in the function room of the Instituto Cervantes with speeches by Carmen Noguero Galilea, secretaria general del Instituto Cervantes, Rebeca Esnaola, minister of culture and sports at the government of Navarra, and Beatriz Navas, director of ICAA, the institute of cinematography and audiovisual arts. There will also be a round table chaired by Miguel Fernández Labayen, programmer for Punto de Vista between 2010 and 2013, featuring all the film makers who have won X Films: Chus Domínguez, Usue Arrieta and Vicente Vázquez, Jorge Tur, Francina Verdés, Aitor Gametxo, Xiana do Teixeiro, Velasco Broca, María Cañas, Zazpi T’erdi and Maddi Barber.

Moreover, the occasion includes the presentation of the X FILMS X catalogue, published by the festival and the Instituto Cervantes and featuring texts specially written by Josetxo Cerdán, Miguel Fernández Labayen and all the film makers who have won in the project.

At 7.00pm the Cine Estudio del Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid is to host screenings of the first and last winning films, “Notas de lo efímero” ("Notes on the Ephemeral") by Chus Domínguez and “La vía flotante” ("The Floating Bridge" by Zazpi T’erdi, presented by their direrctors and by Garbiñe Ortega, artistic director of the festival. Entrance to both events is free, subject to capacity.

During the festival, from 2nd to 7th March in Pamplona, Civivox Condestable is to screen, in collaboration with Pamplona city council and in the presence of their directors, the 9 winning proposals in X Films from 2010 to 2018, premièred at Punto de Vista from 2011 to 2019, and will première "Rojo" ("Red") by Maddi Barber, winner of the X Fillms project in 2019.

In the second half of 2020, the films produced within the X Films project will be shown at different Instituto Cervantes centres all over the world.
