Garbiñe Ortega, director until 2021 of Punto de Vista, International Documentary Film Festival of Navarra Punto de Vista, and filmmaker Lois Patiño are to present Letters as films, the publication that the festival co-edited with La Fábrica for this 15th edition with the collaboration of the Goethe-Institut Madrid.
Following the presentation, there will be a screening of Filmed Letters, an original project by Punto de Vista which premiered at the festival’s closing ceremony in March.
The book compiles more than fifty letters between such artists as Robert Frank, Gunvor Nelson, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Richard Linklater and Tsai Ming-Liang, among other major contemporary names in film. Postcards, handwritten letters, typed missives and emails that reveal unknown and surprising relationships.
Following the talk, there will be a screening of the Filmed Letters collection that the festival suggested in 2021 to a range of artists, including Lynne Sacks, Deborah Stratman, Diana Toucedo and Nicolás Pereda, in which the authors address their creations to other filmmakers, contemporary or otherwise, such as Jean Vigo, Wes Craven and Michelangelo Antonioni.
