Opening call for the submission of film proposals for the Official Section of the 18th edition of Punto de Vista Festival

The deadline for the submission of films for the International Documentary Film Festival of Navarra will be the 6th of September.

Punto de Vista, festival promoted by the Department of Culture of the Government of Navarre and organized by NICDO, opens the call for entries to the Oficial Section in its eighteenth edition. The deadline for the submission of films is the 6th of September of 2023. The application form is available through the official website of the festival.

The Official Section of Punto de Vista welcomes the participation of documentary films of any nationality, made subsequent to August 1st, 2021. Fiction, institutional and advertising films are not eligible, neither are documentaries that are strictly or purely journalistic in nature. There are no limitations with regard to the theme, duration and original language.

Submission has a cost of €5, and can be issued through the festival website, where a film registration form is available.

The films selected will take part of the eighteenth edition of the festival, to be held in Pamplona between March 11th and 16th, 2024.

Selection Commitee
The selection committee of the Official Section of Punto de Vista 2024 will be composed by the Artistic Direction of the festival, Manuel Asín, and experts in the field of documentary filmmaking. As a novelty, Anna Brufau, the programmer of the Filmoteca de Cataluña, will join the programming committee, which consists of Lucía Salas, Pablo García Canga, and Miguel Zozaya, who are repeating for the third consecutive year.

The committee will announce the selected films during the next month of January. Their task will be to select the works according to the ideology and the guidelines of quality and creativity that underpin the festival:

To Punto de Vista, documentary is a meeting point.

  • Punto de Vista is a space where encounters occur at different levels, in an innovative, groundbreaking spirit.
  • Punto de Vista focuses on those filmmakers who take risks and make bold statements with their work, always on the quest.
  • Punto de Vista values the ethical commitment of films towards the people involved in them and their audiences.
  • The official section of Punto de Vista fosters knowledge of reality and independent expression.
  • Punto de Vista is a celebration of documentary cinema.
  • Panel of judges and prizes

In the coming months, an International Panel of Judges will be appointed, made up of experts and professionals from the sector. This panel of judges will announce its decision during the celebration of the closing gala ceremony of the International Documentary Film Festival of Navarra, Punto de Vista 2024.

The Panel of Judges will decide on the official prizes:

  • "Punto de Vista" First Prize for the best film, worth €10,000. The prize will be awarded to the film that the panel of judges considers to be the best work of the official section of the festival, independently of its duration or nationality, giving reasons for their decision.
  • Jean Vigo Prize to the best director, worth €5,000. The prize specifically honours the figure of Jean Vigo and will be awarded to the film in the Official Section that best represents the ethical and formal values that represented his work, giving reasons for their decision.
  • Prize for the best short film, worth €3,000. The prize will be awarded to the best film of a duration equal to or less than 35 minutes.
  • Special mentions: The Panel of Judges can grant up to two special mentions, with no monetary award.

In addition, the following special prizes are established:

  • Special Prize awarded by the Audience for the best film, worth €1,650.
  • Youth Prized for the best film, worth €1,500.

In this way, a new edition of Punto de Vista is launched, which once again aims to bring together different vertices of documentary cinematographic creation. This meeting between filmmakers and their audience will, as in the previous edition, focus on audiovisual products that, without territorial or thematic limits, present an innovative way of understanding reality through documentary film.
