Punto de Vista reaches out to younger audiences through its mediation programme and the Youth Jury
01/19/2023

Its activities include a workshop for children at Civivox, a short film screening for families about the animal world, the second edition of Jóvenes Programadores x Punto de Vista scheme for young programmers and a session for students at the Filmoteca de Navarra

This year once more Punto de Vista will be opening up a space for dialogue and exchange with different audiences of the seventh art within its mediation programme, previously known as the education programme. Like this the festival keeps up its solid commitment to younger audiences, setting out to draw them to the world of documentary film through a range of activities aiming to speak their language, in a relaxed, friendly way.

This year a workshop will be organised for children from 6 to 12 years old at Civivox Mendillorri, where they will learn about the link between image and sound through different games; a special film session for families about the animal world and environmentalism at Baluarte offered by Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona, continuing with a second session at the Centro Comunitario de las Salesianas, La Txantrea; the second edition of the Jóvenes Programadores Moving Cinema x Punto de Vista aimed at young people from 15 to 20 years old who want to learn how to programme a film festival in collaboration with the Civivox network; and a session about the Lumière brothers for primary and secondary schoolchildren at the Filmoteca de Navarra.

Moreover, for younger communities and this year with the support of the Navarra youth institute and Youth Card, the festival has now opened enrolments for the Youth Jury (18 to 25 years old), which will award the Youth Prize for Best Film after watching the full official section of the festival.

La actualidad de los Lumière [Film on the Move: the Currency of the Lumière Brothers], this programme coordinated by film-maker Mercedes Álvarez offers a journey through the history of film – its origins and the evolution of its language – to make young people feel part of the festival as an event that sets out to relate the artistic, poetic side of film to its documentary role of portraying reality. This scheme, among other aimed at young audiences, is supported by the Navarra Youth Institute. Also, Youth Card holders travelling from outside Pamplona to take part in the Youth Jury can apply for assistance in paying for transport and accommodation costs.
