Opening call for the submission of film proposals for the Official Section of the 19th edition of Punto de Vista Festival

The deadline for the submission of films for the International Documentary Film Festival of Navarra will be the 9th of September.

Punto de Vista, festival promoted by the Department of Culture of the Government of Navarre and organized by NICDO, opens the call for entries to the Oficial Section. The nineteenth edition of the Festival, the last with Manuel Asín as its artistic director, to be held in Pamplona from 24th February to 1st March.

The Official Section of Punto de Vista welcomes the participation of documentary films of any nationality, made subsequent to August 1st, 2022. Fiction, institutional and advertising films are not eligible, neither are documentaries that are strictly or purely journalistic in nature. There are no limitations with regard to the theme, duration and original language.

The deadline for entering films is on 9th September 2024. The entry fee is 5€, and entries must be submitted through the festival website, where a form has been provided to enter films.

Selection Commitee

The selection committee for the Official Selection at Punto de Vista 2025 will be made up of Manuel Asín himself and other experts in the field of documentary film.

The team made up of Anna Brufau, Lucía Salas and Pablo García Canga is now joined by Frédérique Monblanc, film-maker, founding partner in the festival Paris Courts Devant and expert in the restoration, recovery and dissemination of film heritage, with experience in both French and Spanish archives.

The committee will announce which films have been selected this coming December. Their task will be to select films in line with the ideas and guidelines on quality and creativity that form the basis of the festival:

  • For Punto de Vista documentary is a meeting place.
  • Punto de Vista is a place to generate dialogues on different levels, oriented towards thought and knowledge.
  • Punto de Vista pays special attention to film-makers and artists whose work is based on risk and searching.
  • Punto de Vista values films' ethical commitment to the people involved in them and to their audiences.
  • The Official Selection of Punto de Vista fosters the discovery of reality and independent expression.
  • Punto de Vista is a celebration of documentary films.

Jury and prizes

In the coming months, an International Panel of Judges will be appointed, made up of experts and professionals from the sector. This panel of judges will announce its decision during the celebration of the closing gala ceremony of the International Documentary Film Festival of Navarra, Punto de Vista 2025.

The Panel of Judges will decide on the official prizes:

  • "Punto de Vista" First Prize for the best film, worth €10,000. The prize will be awarded to the film that the panel of judges considers to be the best work of the official section of the festival, independently of its duration or nationality, giving reasons for their decision.
  • The Jean Vigo Prize for Best Director, worth €5,000. The prize specifically honours the figure of Jean Vigo and will be awarded to the film in the Official Section that best represents the ethical and formal values that represented his work, giving reasons for their decision.
  • Prize for the best short film, worth €3,000. The prize will be awarded to the best film of a duration equal to or less than 35 minutes.
  • Special commendations: the Jury may award up to two special commendations, with no prize money.

In addition, the following special prizes are established:

  • The Special Audicence Prize, worth €1,650.
  • The Youth Prize, worth €1,500.

This sets in motion in a new edition of Punto de Vista, which aims once again to represent the apex of documentary film-making. As in last year's edition, this meeting between filmmakers and their audience spotlights the audiovisual productions that, regardless of origin or topic, present an innovative way of seeing reality through documentary film.
