Punto de Vista announces its mediation programme to reach out to audiences all over the city
01/11/2024

This year a workshop for children, two documentary film sessions for families, a session at the Filmoteca de Navarra for upper secondary students and another edition of Jóvenes Programadores x Punto de Vista are to be organised.

Punto de Vista has begin to release details of the programme for this year's edition, to be held in Pamplona from 11th to 16th March. The festival, promoted by the government of Navarre and organised by the public company NICDO, maintains its commitment to reach out to younger audiences through its mediation programme. Workshops, sessions and other activities that, through an open, accessible approach, seek to create a space for dialogue with families, children and young people. Some of the content has been devised to raise awareness of the importance of caring for the environment; a general current that cuts across the whole festival programme.

This will include a workshop for children from 6 to 12 years old at Civivox Mendillori where they can experience filming the effect of light, reflections and shade in nature; a recreational session at the same venue where as well as screenings of documentaries featuring different animals, a series of games will be organised based on the pictures created live by illustrator Marta Castro; another session at Baluarte to find out about the flora and fauna of the world in order to grasp the importance of protecting it; and a session will be run for primary and secondary pupils based on the film La mecánica de los fluidos [Fluid Mechanics] by the young director Gala Hernández, who will present and take part in a discussion after the screening of this film, which begins with an anonymous suicide note on the internet. Alongside all these activities, this year will see the third consecutive edition of the initiative Jóvenes Programadores Moving Cinema x Punto de Vista, aimed at giving young people aged 16 to 20 the chance to experience programming a film festival, together with the Civivox network and the Navarre Youth Institute. Enrolments are now open here.

Also with the aim of reaching out to younger members of the community, Punto de Vista has now opened applications to join the Youth Jury. A group of around twenty people aged 18 to 25, this jury will award the Youth Prize for Best Film, chosen from all the entries in the Official Selection of the festival. Following its success last year, the festival will once again be collaborating with the Navarre Youth Institute through the latter's European Youth Card in Navarre programme to enable two of its members from elsewhere in Europe to attend. Full information and free registration are available here.
