The programme, inspired by his exhibition devoted at the Oteiza museum, will also include a conversation between Garmendia and Antonio Menchen and an installation in the Ciudadela de Pamplona
Punto de Vista completes its main programme with the announcement of its Contacts section. The festival, held in Pamplona from 24th February to 1st March, will be devoting this section, which connects documentary film with other disciplines, to the visual artist from Gipuzkoa province Iñaki Garmendia.
On the basis of the exhibition planned by the Oteiza museum, which opens in February, Punto de Vista has entered into a three-way partnership with the museum and Pamplona city council. Thus, on Tuesday 25th March there will be a conversation at the museum between Garmendia and visual artist Antonio Menchen, followed by a visit to the exhibition Faux départ / Cabeza Borradora, staged by the Oteiza.
Faux départ / Cabeza Borradora is a creative project carried out by Iñaki Garmendia (b. Ordizia, 1972), specially designed to be shown at the Oteiza museum. Its starting point is the lost bust of painter José Sarriegi (Ordizia, 1911-1967), sculpted by Jorge Oteiza in 1934, of which all that remains are some pictures. On the basis of this symbolic but immaterial presence, over time Garmendia has created a set of pieces offering an introduction and a dialogue with the missing artwork, speaking of the value and meaning of sculpture as creation, community and memory. The exhibition can be visited at the Oteiza museum from 13th February to 25th May 2025.
Also, in collaboration with Pamplona city council, from 24th February to 27th April, in Barracks 6 of the Ciudadela, it will be possible to visit the installation specially designed by Iñaki Garmendia for Punto de Vista on the basis of S.T. Orbea (Orduña), a 42-minute video created by the artist in 2007 involving film of an everyday object, a green Orduña model racing bike made by the Basque firm Orbea between 1970 and 1980. The piece explores the specificity of the object.
