Beatriz Navas, Catarina Boieiro and Daphne Xu to make up the International Jury for the Official Selection at Punto de Vista

Saturday 25th April will see the closing of the festival and the award of the Grand Prize for Best Film, the Jean Vigo Prize for Best Director and the Prize for Best Short Film.

Punto de Vista announces the International Jury for its 20th edition, to be held in Pamplona from 20th to 25th April. The members are Beatriz Navas (doctor of film analysis, co-founder of the plat.tv platform and expert in culture, film and the creative industries), Catarina Boieiro (producer, curator and independent researchers) and Daphne Xu (artist and film-maker). Their task will be to decide which of the films and film-makers in the Official Selection are to receive the three top prizes at the event: the Punto de Vista Grand Prize for Best Film, worth 10,000 euros, the Jean Vigo Prize for Best Director, worth 5,000 euros, and the Prize for Best Short Film, worth 3,000 euros and under the auspices of EITB. They may also award up to two special commendations, with no prize money. Together with these awards, the Official Selection will also include other accolades: the special audience prize for best film, worth 1,650 euros, and the youth prize for best film, with the support of the Navarre Youth Institute and worth 1,500 euros.

Also, the festival is now taking applications to form part of the Youth Jury, on its website. Likewise, passes for professionals, students and press can be applied for online. Tickets for the whole festival programme will go on sale to the general public at the end of March, on the website and at the Baluarte box office.

 

Beatriz Navas

Beatriz Navas Valdés holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication and a PhD in Film Analysis from the Complutense University of Madrid. From 2018 to 2023, she was the General Manager of the ICAA —Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts, Ministry of Culture— and previously ran the Audiovisual Department —2008-2014— and the Performing and Audiovisual Arts Department —2014-2017— at La Casa Encendida, in Madrid. She is the co-founder of the experimental and independent film platform plat.tv and author of Y ahora, lo importante —Penguin Random House, 2018—. From 2024 to 2026, she was the curator of the audiovisual programme for Europalia ESPAÑA, a multidisciplinary biennial held in cities across Belgium.

 

Catarina Boieiro

Catarina Boieiro works in independent documentary research and production through exhibitions, screenings and coordination of publishing projects. She is currently co-director of Doc’s Kingdom in Portugal. She produced Yrupé, the first feature-length film by Candela Sotos, premiered at Visions du Réel (2025) and a prize winner at Seminci and Márgenes. She has worked on producing and distributing films by Ana Vaz and Filipa César. She edited the book Resistência Visual Generalizada. Livros de fotografia e movimentos de libertação, together with Raquel Schefer (ATLAS, 2025), a success at the Paris Photo–Aperture Photobook Awards in the Best Photography Catalogue of the Year section. She has also programmed and presented her work at institutions including LE BAL, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Les Rencontres d’Arles, Cinemateca Portuguesa and Encuentro Cine Cauce.

 

Daphne Xu

Daphne Xu is an artist and filmmaker who explores the politics and poetics of place. Her works unfurl from cities in flux, tracing the interior lives of women and diasporic subjects caught between displacement and belonging, erasure and myth. Xu works between 16 mm and digital formats, using the camera as an instrument for embodied improvisation and encounter. Her films have premiered at festivals and institutions including Toronto International Film Festival, Museum of Modern Art, Visions du Réel, and Cinéma du Réel, where she won the Short Film Award in 2025. She is a MacDowell Fellow and Media City Chrysalis Fellow.
