Official prizes
► The Punto de Vista Grand Prize for Best Film, worth 10,000 euros, goes to I lit the Fire! by Valeria Lemesevskaya.
Jury statement:
A film with a distinct energetic pulse that reflects on the idea of home and reveals life with a compelling, contagious force. A spirit and a temperament gradually emerge through an obsessive attention to a face and a body, tracing the everyday life of a girl amidst her family and animals. We are excited by this vital and visceral approach to documentary as a place of encounter.
With this award we would like to support Valeria Lemeshevskaya in continuing her artistic pursuits.
The Best Film Award goes to “I lit the fire!”.
► The Jean Vigo prize for Best Director, worth 5,000 euros, goes to Sin ton ni son by Víctor Ladera.
Jury statement:
The power of enigma manifests as a creative and imaginative force. The work, marked by its apparent austerity and reduced number of elements, nonetheless unfolds an effervescent richness in which each component carries significant intensity. Within this tension between the minimal and the expansive, the enigmatic is not resolved but activated as a catalyst for interpretation and experience.
The Jean Vigo Award for best direction goes to Víctor Ladera for “Sin ton ni son”.
► The prize for Best Short, worth 3,000 euros and sponsored by EITB, goes to 3cm of Complexity by Anna Vasof.
Jury statement:
This refreshingly imaginative filmmaker asks: how can one be healthy in a sick world? Through playful inventions, she exposes the absurdity and contradictions inherent in the systems and institutions we depend on. In her cinema, humor and handcrafted creativity are brought to the forefront, allowing a certain sense of relief to reach the viewer.
For all these reasons, we award Best Short Film to: “3cm of Complexity”.
