17 documentaries in competition at the Punto de Vista film festival

Eleven feature films and six short films from eleven different countries will make the Official Selection at the Navarra International Documentary Film Festival – Punto de Vista, to be held in Pamplona from 19 to 24 February 2013. The Festival is organised by INAAC Foundation for the Government of Navarra.

The Tricks of Time: January’s Punto de Vista in Focus, a Prelude to the Festival

In January, the Navarra Film Library is hosting the 3rd Punto de Vista in Focus meeting. The activity was established in November 2010, in an effort to extend the Festival in Pamplona beyond February. In this new edition, under the title The Tricks of Time (Las trampas del tiempo), four films are being screened exploring the connections between memory, history and the past. Time likes to play tricks, drawing patterns in our memories where we get trapped. What we remember may have never happened – in any case, it was not the way we keep it in our memory. The distance between facts and memories grows longer, but we are never able to accurately measure it.

These are some of the questions asked in Emak Bakia Baita (The Emak Bakia House), a documentary on the search for the house on the Basque coast where Man Ray shot his famous film Emak Bakia (Leave Me Alone) back in 1926. Eighty years after the shooting, Oskar Alegria sets out to find the house on the basis of four clues: the house’s weird name, a photogram of a window, a photogram of a door and an image of the sea.
