Punto de Vista Collection
NEWS
Pamplona will host again in February a meeting with the non-fiction film. Punto de Vista is working on the preparation of a new edition of its seminar, an event for teaching and film showings, bridging the gap between editions of the festival, as the festival is held every two years.
Taking over from Josetxo Cerdán, Oskar Alegria will be the Artistic Director of the Punto de Vista Festival for the next four years. The festival is maintaining its policy of having two directors, an Artistic Director, a position that is periodically renewed, and an Executive Director. Ana Herrera will once again be the Executive Director in this new period, having previously held this position between 2005 and 2010. The festival is organised and funded by the Regional Government of Navarre, through Fundación INAAC. In February of 2014, Punto de Vista will be holding an international seminar, the dates for which will be announced soon.
Now that the Festival’s 8th edition has finished, figures about moviegoers reveal that Punto de Vista, now in the festival format again after the 2012 seminar, is back in shape. This year, the Festival’s activities and events drew 8,490 people, that is, over 2,000 more than in 2011 (6,106), 3,000 more than in 2010 (5,236) and 4,000 more than in 2009 (4,353). This means that the number of attendees doubled in five years.
The chinese film Apuda, by He Yuan, has won the First Prize Punto de Vista for the best film, in the 2013 edition of Punto de Vista film festival. John Smith, author of Dad’s Stick, has been elected best director (Jean Vigo Prize). Toma Dos, by Pilar Alvarez (best short film) and A World not Ours, by Mahdi Fleifel (prize of the Public, are the other two films awarded. The Jury has also decided to give special mentions to the films The Florestine Collection, by Paul Gailiunas and Helen Hill, and El modelo, by Germán Scelso.
This year, Punto de Vista will feature the presentation of three interesting projects for audiences and accredited guests.
