Jorge Tur, Spain, 2013, 63'

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s the legend of Sanchicorrota, a 15th century bandit who robbed from the rich to give to the poor. The quest of his traces and lost memory navigates between history and myth. The findings? No small thing: shepherds, sheeps, hunters, film sets, a military base, and the painful memory of recent Spanish history in a lost cabin in the middle of the Bardenas desert.

Jorge Tur, documentary maker. Lecturer and general coordinator on the master's course in Theory and Practice of the Creative Documentary at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). After graduating in Psychology from the University of Valencia, he did a master's degree in Creative Documentary at the UAB. Director of the documentaries “De función”, “Castillo”, “Si yo fuera tú, me gustarían los Cicatriz”, “Diario ruso”, “Ja arriba el temps de remenar les cireres” and “Dime quién era Sanchicorrota”, which have earned him various accolades at national and international level. He has worked as a psychologist and coordinator of an audiovisual workshop and a psychiatric unit. He has sat on the committee that awards subsidies from the funding body Fondo para el Desarrollo Cinematográfico (Proimágenes Colombia) in the screen writing category. A contributor to different publications, he recently wrote a chapter for the book “Territorios y Fronteras 2. Emergencias y urgencias en el cine documental español”, published by the UPV/EHU (University of the Basque Country).
