Study that asks for the meaning of being at home and of belonging. The producer uses photos, maps and Google Earth to connect places, not just belonging to her past, but also to the complex migratory history of her family, which dates back to Hitler’s Germany and Mao Zedong’s China. Real and virtual are equally confused: no matter how close one gets, one is never completely at home.
Melisa Liebenthal is an Argentinian director. She studied at the University of Film in Buenos Aires, the Cuban International Film and Television School (EICTV) and Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in France. Her work explores the hybrid aesthetic and the attempt to cross intimate stories with reflections of a political scope. Her films have won awards in Rotterdam, BAFICI and Queer Lisboa and have been screened in tens of international film festivals.
